The Strategic Plan sets out a vision for St. Catharines to be the most dynamic, innovative, sustainable and livable city in North America. The plan was developed by all members of Council who worked together to create a vision with clear goals and objectives to work towards the vision statement.
While strategic plans are not a requirement for municipalities, they are becoming more common as a best practice for elected councils and staff to focus on long-term planning. The City of St. Catharines Strategic Plan is organized under the four pillars of sustainability: economic, environmental, social and cultural, with goals and objectives under each pillar. The Strategic Plan is aligned with the City’s Sustainability Strategy and the new advisory committee structure.
With the plan now approved, city staff will develop an implementation plan and regularly report to Council on progress and action items. Council will check in with the community and stakeholders after two years to update the plan and strategic actions as needed.
St. Catharines really has what it takes to be the best city and now with our new Strategic Plan, we can focus our efforts to achieve our vision to be the most dynamic, innovative, sustainable and livable city in North America.
