Let’s talk transit

Next week Council will be discussing inter-municipal transit. As a region, we’ve been working on this for many years. Now, the cities of St. Catharines, Welland and Niagara Falls have come together with an option to merge our transit systems and expand transit services for the entire Niagara region. It’s a solid plan, and while we’ve got some work to do to get there, I’m confident that it’s the right step for our city and region.

We all know that good public transit is critical for Niagara’s future economic growth and prosperity. Inter-municipal transit enables residents to get to school, work, employment opportunities, recreation and social services – all key elements in a strong, vibrant economy. Local and inter-municipal transit connections are also necessary to support daily GO train service coming to Niagara.

We’ve got a plan and a path forward for better transit in the region. Please come out and show your support on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 at the Special Council meeting or share your feedback in an online form now: www.stcatharines.ca/IMT
