The Mayor’s Report from City Council – now coming to you online with community news and events in #ourhomestc.

Thank you to the Clean City Committee and all volunteers who “pitched in” this past weekend during the Earth Day clean up. Today we had the Special Olympics flag raising to bring awareness to the Games that will take place in June right in St. Catharines. To volunteer for the Games this June: www.sooschoolchampionships2017.ca – please do so by May 1st.  St. Catharines will host the 2018 edition of the FIBA U18 Americas Championship at the Meridian Centre in June of 2018.  We had two new business open downtown St. Catharines –  Congrats to Joanna Brodie on opening Cafe Luxe and to Beth McIntee on opening Niagara Food Company.

Congratulations to the Niagara Symphony on celebrating their 70th anniversary in St. Catharines.  Nominees for the 2017 St. Catharines Arts Awards have been announced – a great event showcasing our local talent, be sure to purchase your tickets at FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre.  The In the Soil Arts Festival  is taking place downtown St. Catharines this weekend, you don’t want to miss it and the amazing talent that will be showcased.

Lots of great things are happening in #ourhomestc – I look forward to seeing you out and about.
