Mayor’s Report – August 13, 2018.
Well after a brief summer break – City Council is back in action which also means a new edition of the Mayor’s Report.
July and August have been busy months here in the City of St. Catharines.
I was happy and honoured to present Norm Foster – the Foster Festival with the Key to the City to acknowledge his contributions to the St. Catharines arts scene.
You know it is summer in St. Catharines when weekends are packed of amazing community events. Congratulations to all the organizers and volunteers of the – St. Catharines Rotary Ribfest, Facer European Festival, St. Catharines Chicken Wing Festival, Royal Canadian Henley Regatta and Open Streets St. Catharines. Thanks for all your hard work and for contributing to the vitality of St. Catharines.
Thank you to James Symons for kicking off the 2nd Niagara Toolbox project at City Hall last week – please do reach out to Niagara Toolbox and help him reach his goal of 500 this year.
Attention foodies – Summer Downtown D’Lish is on until August 25th – come downtown and check out our amazing restaurants.
One of my favourite things to do as Mayor is to visit the various businesses here – congratulations to GM Canada on 140 years here in St. Catharines and to Rankin Construction who are celebrating 40 years in our community.
We also have some new businesses that have opened up – HELT Doors, Zippy Zoom Indoor Playground and A Third Space – thank you to these entrepreneurs for investing in our community.
Keep an eye out for many Terry Fox events to be taking place over the next month – starting with the flag raising this week. Keep your eyes and ears open for a challenge…..
Enjoy these last weeks of summer.
