St. Catharines older adults invited to community forum
The second annual St. Catharines Older Adults Forum is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre. The forum will feature a presentation by Mayor Walter Sendzik and an update from the first forum held last fall, followed by an interactive discussion about the issues that are important to the St. Catharines older adult community.
The forum is an important part of a new citizen advisory committee structure approved by City Council in 2015. The forum is an opportunity for discussion and sharing feedback with the City about issues which are important to older adults, such as housing, transportation, community engagement and recreation programs and services. Service providers and agencies serving older adults in St. Catharines and Niagara will also answer questions and share information about programs and services in the community.
“I’m looking forward to reconnecting with residents at the older adult forum and hearing their ideas for our city,” said Mayor Walter Sendzik. “At the first forum we had a great turnout and an engaging conversation about ways we can work together with community partners to improve programs and services to help make St. Catharines an even better place for older adults to live.”
All are welcome to attend the Older Adults Forum. It is not necessary to be a member of a St. Catharines older adult centre to attend. RSVP to the Mayor’s Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 905-688-5601 ext. 1540.
